Project Overview
Objectives
The website was a holding page at the start. So we needed to build a leading website which was easy to manage and host the website with the capabilities of redendering HD video throughout.
Build a cutting-edge interactive website
There was no current website just a holiding page so the task we to build a website that was very advanced and matched robotics as an advanced technology.
Host the website with high res assets
As well as bringing the holding site to a new server with a smooth rollout. We needed to render some high definition video content without affect the overall speed of the site.
Build a cutting-edge interactive website
The big objective here was to redesign the website to a modern feel with best practices in web development applied throughout.
The website was a holding page at the start. So we needed to work with the owners on the creation of content which they were excellent at. Once the content was together we gathered a list of high-quality content via Shutterstock. The challenge was to keep up page speeds whilst having a highly animated high-tech presentation of the site. Everything was built on a staging website allowing the clients to make changes and visualise everything before going live. This is another huge benefit to working with Brightside as we develop everything in dev environments and can be easily accessed once set up.
Host the website with high res assets
One of the challenges of using high res assets is the storage and rendering without losing site speed or quality.
Again sticking with our favourite CMS we built the site and system on WordPress. In doing so we need to make some significant changes to allow us to upload and render the HD video in particular without sacrificing quality. We explain our process below.
Rendering HD Video and Not Lose Website Speed
One of our biggest challenges in running the site was uploading HD videos throughout the site. Almost every page shows advanced robotics in action. These videos immerse the user in the robotic experience. As well as increasing upload limits we optimised the code so the speed remained high and the quality of the content wasn’t reduced. This is particularly shown in the mobile version of the site. One of the smart things we did was allow the mobile device to display the videos in optimal performance mode but if a device was reverted to low power mode the videos wouldn’t autoplay keeping the speed and website at optimal performance. The business benefits greatly from these changes allows them to scale with more high-quality content in the future.
The Results
The objectives were clear but we needed to deliver a website that matched the advanced technology nature of the business
Leading
The end result we built one of - if not the leading robotics website in the whole of Ireland
Rendering
Throughout the website no loss of speed or quality for all high res assets. This was down to some optimal coding practices.
On Brand
The new website has been developed matching all branding requests made making it very appealing and inline with the rest of the business.
